What is Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty surgery, also called labioplasty procedure, or vaginal reconstruction, is a labia reduction surgery to reduce and/or reshape the labia minora (inner labia) and the labia majora (outer labia) – the skin that covers the female clitoris and vaginal opening. The size, color, and shape of a woman’s labia vary significantly between women and may change as a result of childbirth, aging, and other events.
Labiaplasty surgery can also address congenital defects and abnormalities such as:
Caginal atresia
Malformed uterus
Malformed fallopian tubes
Inter-sex conditions
Repair damage from tearing and stretching during childbirth
There are several different types of vaginal rejuvenation procedures that are typically performed:
Vaginoplasty
Labiaplasty
FemiLift
What is the purpose of a Labiaplasty Surgery?
Large labia (labial hypertrophy)
Some women are born with an enlarged labia, which in medical terms is called labial hypertrophy, and therefore opt to have the vaginal reconstruction procedure. Whereas others develop the enlargement with age or from child-birth. Occasionally, a woman is self-conscious of her labia since childhood. In some instances, a woman with a large labia minora can experience pain during intercourse, or feel discomfort during everyday activities or when wearing tight-fitting clothing.
Enhance sexual experience
Others may feel unattractive or wish to enhance their sexual experiences by removing some of the skin that covers the clitoris. The purpose of a labiaplasty procedure is to better define the inner labia. Labia reduction surgery can greatly improve the aesthetic appearance of an abnormally enlarged labia.
