Milton A. Hartman was born in Saline in 1920 and was a 1938 graduate of Saline High School. Fresh from overseas duty in the Coast Guard during World War II, he started Michigan Insurance Company in October 1946 when he answered an ad for a Mutual of Omaha insurance representative.
