Ever since he was a boy growing up in his native Cuba, Benjamin León Jr. had an interest in horses. In 1981 he focused on that passion by purchasing and importing an entire herd of twenty four horses from Dominican breeders Luis and LizetteLebron. Within this herd there were influential horses such as the undefeated Grand Champion Marquesa de Besilu, Rebeldia de Besilu – dam of Alegria de Besilu and grand dam to Jazmin de Isla, Jenca de Besilu – dam of Rebeldia.
