Sam Milliken, formerly an educator, started a Teachers’ workshop center in 1973. His specialty was fostering teacher skills in engaging elementary students with science materials in the light of Jean Piaget’s discoveries about how children’s thinking develops. At the same time he started studying cooking on his own, found out he had a knack for it, and began catering simple receptions. Then he studied with top French chefs in Manhattan and became the exclusive caterer at The Explorers Club. People began to call for his catering to their homes and offices. More recently Sam created Manhattan Penthouse on Fifth Avenue, his ultimate and proudest achievement, and he hired top French Chef Noga Andriani as Executive Chef.
